Instruction for all levels of players:

Beginning students can learn the basics of holding and playing the instrument and prepare to discover the joys of making music with others. Learning the basics of reading and writing music lays a groundwork for further discovery (and complements the not-inconsiderable marvels of "playing by ear").

Intermediate players can work toward mastering the requirements of a responsible bassist in the small-band context, in all aspects of American popular music forms including blues, classic R'n'B, gospel, "rock" etc. Learn the musical theory underlying a "chord chart" and what it means to you as a bass player at your gig.

Advancing players can:
